From the window seats, the views from our Cawsand holiday home is a constant source of delight, even on wintry days. It’s as if the world slows down, allowing moments of tranquillity to unfold before us. Conversations blend seamlessly into the backdrop of nature’s splendour, evolving with each glance out the window.“Oh look, there’s someone swimming – they are brave,” someone might say. It’s always surprising to see, yet the allure of the shimmering water is undeniable. “The water is an amazing colour, isn’t it?” someone else replies, a shared appreciation of the ever-changing palette outside.
Inside, nestled in comfort, there’s always a delicious sense of indulgence, perhaps inspired by our favourite local finds. “Did we finish that cake, wine, or cheese from so and so?” These moments of casual delight remind us of the joys of simple pleasures, easily savoured in this idyllic setting.
Afternoons invite a sense of adventure, with the calm seas tempting with possibilities. “I might kayak this afternoon as it’s so calm – do you know what time high tide is?” There’s always a lure of outdoor activities, resonating particularly on such serene days.
As the day wanes, the suggestion arises, “Shall we take a couple of beers up to Penlee Point and see the sunset?” It’s a tempting idea, one that promises a perfect end to a relaxing day, immersing us in the natural beauty that envelopes our holiday retreat.
Back indoors, the promise of cosy comforts calls, “I’m reading such a good book – might just curl up here and crack on with it – but make me a tea when you next go downstairs.” Others choose pure relaxation, announcing plans for a luxurious escape, “I’m going to stop looking out the window and have a long bath!”
