One of the most exceptional features of No. 3 is its unique, feet-in-the-sea location—offering direct access to the beach right from the house. Whether you’re into swimming, rock-pooling, sandcastle-building, snorkelling, paddling, or just enjoying the coastal air, you couldn’t be better placed.
There are two easy ways to reach the water:
- Step outside the kitchen and down the charming smugglers’ passage (because every house should have one!)
- Or head through the walled garden and out the private gate to the sea steps, which often lead directly into deeper water, ideal for a morning dip, fishing for mackerel, or just sitting with a coffee, watching the waves.
Included in your stay is a double sit-on kayak, perfect for exploring the bay. It’s incredibly stable, and we provide life jackets for adults and children. Paddle around the tranquil coves and discover hidden corners of the coastline—it’s a peaceful, scenic way to spend a few hours. If you’re looking for more water adventures, additional kayaks and paddleboards can be rented locally from Cawsand Beach.
Thanks to the sheltered nature of the bay, the water is often calm, making it suitable for all levels—from confident swimmers to cautious paddlers. You’re also exploring a marine conservation zone, home to thriving eelgrass beds—an underwater plant (not seaweed!) that shelters baby seahorses, rare marine life, and even the occasional seal basking nearby or playing in the surf.
And if you’d rather admire the sea without getting your toes wet, the master bedroom balcony offers a perfect perch. From there, you can watch all the coastal activity unfold in comfort.
